PNP Express Entry Draws: Provincial Nominee Programs Linked to EE

What Are PNP Express Entry Draws?

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian provinces and territories to select immigrants who meet their labour market needs. Many PNPs have streams that are "aligned" or "linked" with Express Entry. If you're in the Express Entry pool, a province can nominate you. Once you accept the nomination, 600 points are added to your CRS score. That effectively guarantees you'll receive an ITA in the next draw, since 600 points put you well above typical cut-offs. The federal government then processes your application, often with priority.

Popular PNP-EE Streams

  • **Ontario (OINP)**: Human Capital Priorities, French-Speaking Skilled Worker, Skilled Trades—Ontario searches the EE pool and issues Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to eligible candidates.
  • **British Columbia (BC PNP)**: Tech, Healthcare, Skilled Worker—BC holds weekly draws; you must register in the BC PNP system and have an active EE profile.
  • **Alberta (AAIP)**: Alberta Express Entry stream—Alberta selects from the pool based on occupation, CRS, and provincial priorities.
  • **Saskatchewan (SINP)**: Express Entry sub-category—SINP has its own points grid; you need an EE profile and must meet SINP criteria.
  • **Manitoba, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and others** also have EE-linked streams. Each province has different requirements, draw frequency, and occupation focus.

Strategy

If your CRS is below the general cut-off (often 500+), a provincial nomination is one of the most reliable paths to PR. Research which provinces target your occupation, ensure your EE profile is complete and up to date, and consider whether you're willing to settle in that province. Some provinces require a genuine intention to live there; misrepresentation can have serious consequences.
